South Boston Trenchless Sewer Lining Project

South Boston Trenchless Sewer Lining Project

The team at Boston Pipelining Company recently completed a challenging sewer rehabilitation project in South Boston. The property’s old cast iron pipes were corroded and leaking in several areas, creating a risk of backups. To avoid major demolition and disruption, our crew used a trenchless sewer repair solution, installing a cured-in-place pipe liner that restored the system from inside the home.

Initial Inspection & Planning

We started with a detailed sewer camera inspection to assess the condition of the pipes. The footage showed heavy scale buildup and cracking along the 4- and 6-inch lines. This confirmed that a trenchless lining approach would be the best long-term solution without requiring excavation of the concrete floor.

Pipe Cleaning & Preparation

Before lining, our technicians used hydro jetting to remove years of rust, grease, and debris. A properly cleaned pipe is essential for strong liner adhesion and maximum flow capacity. Once cleaned, we set up our SacTools inversion drum and prepared the liner with high-strength resin for installation.

Liner Installation

The resin-saturated liner was inverted into the host pipe under air pressure, ensuring it conformed tightly to the existing pipe walls. After curing, the result was a seamless, jointless new pipe inside the old one. This process eliminates leaks, prevents root intrusion, and extends the service life of the system by over 50 years. For smaller diameter lines, our crew also offers epoxy brush coatings to restore pipes with minimal disruption.
