Dorchester trenchless sewer repair
We lined a backing-up clay sewer beneath a Dorchester basement slab after our camera traced the backups to roots and fractures in the lateral. If your Dorchester sewer backs up, we record it, clear it and show you whether a liner can renew it from inside.

We lined this Dorchester clay sewer through a floor opening beside the basement stairs.
Our Dorchester job
Our camera traced a Dorchester backup to a rooted clay lateral under the slab.
The owner’s backups did not come from a single fixture. Our camera showed fractures, scale and roots in the clay lateral beneath the basement slab, so we jetted the roots out, measured the run from our recording and lined it from an opening beside the basement stairs.
The cured liner formed a jointless wall inside the old clay pipe, and we did not remove the slab along the sewer’s route. If your Dorchester basement drain backs up, we start the same way: a recording of your lateral that shows you where it fails.
What our camera found. Fractures, scale and root intrusion in the clay lateral under the slab.
What we did. We jetted the roots out, measured the run and inverted a resin-saturated liner.
What it meant for the floor. We lined the run from interior access instead of removing the slab along it.
Footage from our jobs
We recorded this Dorchester sewer from our inspection van.
Our camera goes down through the street access while the live picture plays on the monitor in our van. Your recording shows you the same view of your own lateral.
A camera inspection from the street
Our camera goes down through a street sewer access, and the live picture plays on the monitor inside our inspection van. We recorded this clip on our Dorchester job.
Slide across each clay and cast iron pipe to see it before and after we line it.
Our Dorchester job was a clay lateral. These pairs show roots and cracks like the ones our camera found, and the liner that covers them.

Our liner covers the cracks that let roots into your clay pipe.Once your clay pipe is clean, our liner cures against its wall and spans the cracks along the lined run.

We line cast iron building drains as well as clay laterals. If your basement drain is cast iron, we descale it to its wall before lining, so your new liner cures tight against it.
We find these problems in Dorchester sewers like the one we lined.
Our recording of your lateral shows which of these problems you have and whether your pipe still holds the shape a liner needs.
Before lining
Your clay pipe has broken at a hub.
A broken hub lets roots and soil into your sewer. Our liner spans the break when the pipe around it still holds its shape.
Before lining
Your clay joint is leaking into the soil under your slab.
Water leaving a joint washes out the soil under your pipe and draws roots to it. Our liner covers the leaking joints along the lined run.
Camera inspection
Scale has built up inside your basement drain.
We descale your drain to its wall, then line it so waste no longer catches on the crust.
Camera inspectionSpot repair first
A section of your lateral has caved in.
We cannot pull a liner through a collapse. We repair that section first, then line the rest of your lateral when it still holds its shape.
We line your Dorchester lateral in the order we lined this one.

We record your lateral from your basement cleanout.
Our camera shows the fractures, roots and scale along your lateral and measures the run we need to line.
Hydro jetting
We jet the roots and buildup out of your clay pipe.
Our nozzle cuts the roots back to the pipe wall so your liner seats against clean clay.

We invert your liner from an opening inside your basement.
We stage our inversion drum indoors and feed the resin-saturated liner into your lateral under air pressure.
Curing the liner
We cure your liner into a structural wall.
The resin hardens into a jointless pipe wall inside your old clay sewer, using the cure method your liner system specifies.
After lining
We record the finished wall before your drains reopen.
Our final recording shows you the lined run, with its joints and cracks covered, before you use your fixtures again.

Dorchester and BWSC
Your Dorchester lateral is yours to repair from your basement to the main in the street.
Dorchester is served by the Boston Water and Sewer Commission. BWSC says property owners are responsible for maintaining and repairing their building’s entire lateral, from inside the basement to BWSC’s main in the street, and it lists a blocked or collapsed private lateral as one cause of sewage backups into a property.
BWSC advises owners to have their lateral inspected for blockages, breaks and leaks, and says repairing, replacing or relining it can help prevent backups. It also recommends backwater valves on plumbing fixtures below street grade. If your lateral leaks, BWSC’s Sewer Lateral Financial Assistance Program can reimburse part of a lining job, and we record your lateral so you have the footage that program asks BWSC to verify.

Our customers rate us 5.0 out of 5 from 56 Google reviews.
Travis and his team were excellent to work with. We had a several cracks in our sewer line and Travis came out to camera the line, advised us on the best path forward (we had to complete a spot repair for a collapsed area prior to lining). The quote was sent in a timely manner, all questions were answered completely, they arrived on time and worked efficiently. I couldn’t recommend the team more.
Kim D.Google review, Boston Pipe Lining did a terrific job at our house cleaning out our main sewer line and relining it. They showed us the before and after video of the line, they answered all of our questions and explained the process very thoroughly. They were very organized, on time and did a very nice job. I highly recommend them! Joe and Maryanne
Maryanne M.Google review, Boston Pipelining did a job for me last week - they came a business day after I called to look at the job & gave me a solid quote - they were here within a week of when I said OK exactly when we agreed and got the job done in half a day - they showed me a camera view of before & after the lining and the result looks great - they fully cleaned up after themselves - I strongly recommend them

We answer the questions Dorchester owners ask us about their laterals.

Did you remove the basement floor on your Dorchester job?
No. We lined that clay sewer through an opening beside the basement stairs, so the slab along its route stayed in place.
Is my Dorchester lateral my responsibility or the city’s?
BWSC says owners are responsible for their building’s entire lateral, from inside the basement to BWSC’s sewer main in the street. BWSC maintains the main itself.
Do I need a backwater valve as well as a liner?
A liner renews the wall of your lateral; a backwater valve stops flow from coming back into your building. BWSC recommends backwater valves on fixtures below street grade, and its regulations require them where a fixture is liable to backflow, at the owner’s expense.
Can roots grow back after you line my clay lateral?
Our liner covers the joints along the lined run, which is where roots get in. Roots pressing on your pipe from outside can still need attention on some properties, and our recording shows whether the lined run covers the joints they used.
Send us the details of your Dorchester sewer.
