Boston trenchless sewer repair
We inspect, clean and line damaged sewer laterals and building drains across Boston. We have lined sewers beneath finished floors in Back Bay, Charlestown, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain and South Boston, and our camera recording shows you whether your sewer can be renewed the same way.

We lined this Charlestown sewer through an opening in a tiled basement floor.

Five Boston jobs
We have renewed Boston sewers from inside five neighborhoods.
Our Boston work spans a cast iron lateral under a finished Back Bay floor, a 4-inch to 6-inch transition beneath a Charlestown basement, a rooted clay line under a Dorchester slab, a 6-inch run we cured with UV light in Jamaica Plain and corroded cast iron under a South Boston concrete floor.
Each job started with a camera recording of the owner’s sewer and ended with a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner installed through planned interior access. If your Boston sewer backs up, leaks or holds roots, we record it the same way and show you which of those approaches fits your pipe.
Slide across these pipes to see the problems we line in Boston.
Our Boston jobs have involved cast iron and clay sewers. Each slider pairs a damaged pipe with the same pipe after lining.

We clear roots from cracked clay and cover the cracks with our liner. Our Dorchester job was a clay lateral with roots at its joints. When your clay sewer still holds its shape, our liner spans the cracks along the lined run.

We renew a buried lateral inside the pipe that is already there.Your liner cures against the old pipe wall from the building to the street connection we can reach, so you do not trench along its full route.

Each project article shows the camera findings, the access we used and our photographs from that job.
Back BayWe lined a cast iron lateral with recurring backups beneath a finished floor.
CharlestownWe bridged a 4-inch to 6-inch transition with one continuous liner.
DorchesterWe cleared roots and lined a clay sewer under a basement slab.
Jamaica PlainWe cured a liner in a 6-inch basement run with UV light.
South BostonWe lined 4-inch and 6-inch cast iron beneath a concrete floor.
We line these problems inside Boston sewers.
Lining needs a pipe that still holds its shape. Our camera recording shows us whether your sewer does and which of these problems it has.
Camera inspection
Scale is closing in on your cast iron drain.
Scale narrows your drain and snags waste. We descale your pipe to its wall, then line it so your fixtures drain over a smooth new surface.
Camera inspection
Roots are growing through the joints of your clay lateral.
We cut and jet the roots out of your lateral, then line the run so its joints are covered by one continuous wall.
Camera inspection
A joint in your lateral has shifted out of line.
Our liner bridges an offset our camera shows it can pass. A joint that has shifted further needs a spot repair before we line your run.
Camera inspectionSpot repair first
Part of your sewer has caved in.
Our liner follows your existing pipe and cannot pass a collapse. We repair that spot first, then line the sections on either side when they still hold their shape.
We renew your Boston sewer in five steps.

We record your sewer from a cleanout or street access.
We run our camera from your basement cleanout or an outside access and record the joints, cracks, roots and scale along your lateral, with its length and diameter.
Hydro jetting
We jet roots, grease and scale out of your pipe.
Cleaning clears your pipe so our camera sees its wall, our measurements are accurate and your liner can seat against the old pipe.

We install your liner from inside the building.
We saturate a liner cut to your measured run with resin and invert it from the access we agreed with you, as we did from a Charlestown basement.
Curing the liner
We cure the liner into a new pipe wall.
We cure the resin with the method your liner system calls for. On our Jamaica Plain job we cured it with a UV light train.

We record your lined sewer before you use it again.
We reopen any branch the liner covered and record the finished run, so you see your new pipe wall before your fixtures go back into use.

Boston Water and Sewer Commission
BWSC can reimburse part of your lateral repair, and its program allows relining.
The Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) runs a Sewer Lateral Financial Assistance Program for property owners whose lateral is blocked, collapsed or leaking. BWSC verifies the condition, your water and sewer account must be current, and you collect three written estimates from contractors BWSC licenses and bonds. The program reimburses up to $8,000 for an 8-foot relay or $6,000 for a full lateral line, and its page says you can repair, replace or reline your lateral to correct the condition.
For a leaking lateral, BWSC’s 2025 stormwater report says the lining or relay must run from inside your building foundation to the public sewer in the street, and BWSC dye tests your lateral afterward. That is the run we line from your basement. We give you a written estimate based on your camera recording, and two of our customers wrote that we helped them through this program.

Boston Pipe Lining Company did a great job for me. I was totally unaware of the problem and how to fix it. They led me through the process and put me in touch with the Boston Water and Sewer Commission to take advantage of the reimbursement availability. They also had the lowest bid of those I received
Louis C.Google review, The whole operation from start to finish was professional and easy to deal with. They came out quickly, quoted me a good price and got the job done on time and under budget. They explained everything to me and assisted me with the Boston Water and Sewer rebate program.
Francis S.Google review, We had original 100 y/o cast iron under our basement slab and Boston Pipe Lining handled the stretch from the house to the street. It was 12 feet underground which would have been astronomically expensive to dig. The price was fair and they were extremely professional. Travis and his team were in and out in less than three hours and there was not a single issue with the process. I'd strongly recommend them.

We answer the questions Boston owners ask us about their sewers.

Who owns the sewer lateral at my Boston property?
BWSC’s sewer regulations say building sewers are owned by the owner of the premises they serve, whether they sit on public or private property. BWSC describes your lateral as running from inside your basement to its sewer main in the street, and it maintains the main.
Does the BWSC assistance program pay for lining?
Yes, when you qualify. BWSC’s program page says you can repair, replace or reline your lateral, and its 2025 report describes reimbursing owners who line or relay a verified leaking lateral from inside the foundation to the public sewer. BWSC sets the amounts and confirms eligibility, so contact BWSC before you schedule work.
Who is allowed to work on my building sewer in Boston?
BWSC’s sewer regulations require installation, repair and maintenance of your building sewer to be performed by a drain layer holding a Drain Layers License issued by the Commission.
Can you line my sewer if part of it has collapsed?
Not through the collapsed section. Our liner follows your existing pipe, so we repair a caved-in section first and then line the parts of your lateral that still hold their shape.
What should I send you before you visit?
Send your address, which fixtures back up or drain slowly, whether your basement floor is finished and any inspection video you already have. If you plan to apply to BWSC, tell us so we can put our recording and estimate in the form you need.
